On February 27, 1996, the world changed forever with the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan. Fast forward to February 27, 2026, and the franchise is stronger than ever, celebrating three decades of catching, battling, and trading.
Major Announcements from Pokémon Day 2026
The 30th-anniversary Pokémon Presents delivered some of the biggest news in years, looking both at the series' roots and its future.
1. The Next Generation: Pokémon Winds & Pokémon Waves
The headline news was the reveal of Generation 10. These new titles, set in a vibrant tropical region, are scheduled for a global release in 2027. We were introduced to three adorable new starters:
* Browt: The Grass-type "Bean Chick" Pokémon.
* Pombon: The Fire-type "Puppy" Pokémon.
* Gecqua: The Water-type "Water Gecko" Pokémon.
2. Retro Returns to Nintendo Switch
